Books for Dessert is a book club for adults over 21 with intellectual disabilities, who live or work in and around Port Washington. Read about Books for Dessert in American Libraries Magazine.

Books for Dessert collaborates with groups such as AHRC, Community Mainstreaming Associates (CMA), YAI, and The Nicholas Center.

There are three separate groups that meet weekly. Two groups meet on Monday Mornings from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., and the other meets on Thursday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The groups meet to read, discuss, and socialize, while enjoying some coffee and cookies.

We have read over 80 books, including:

•             Charlotte’s Web
•             Short stories such as The Lottery
•             Romeo and Juliet
•             Frankenstein
•             Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
