To begin a search:
1. Select the type of search you wish to conduct using the drop down menu.
The default is a Keyword Search. You may also search by Title, Author, Subject, Call Number, Series Title, ISBN, and more.
NOTE: Simple Boolean performs a Keyword Search.
Examples: Shakespeare Hamlet
2. Enter the terms you wish to search.
A subject, phrase, title or author’s name can be entered without punctuation and can be in upper, lower, or mixed cases.
Examples: VOLCANOES, feng shui, or Patterson, James.
A few words of a title or part of the author’s name should work.
3. To limit your search to Port Washington select “Port Washington” from the collection drop down menu.
The default is “View All Libraties,” which searches the holdings of the 52 public libraries in Nassau County (Port Washington holdings should appear at the top of the results list).
4. Click the “Go” button, “Search” button or “Enter” key to run your search.
A results list will display with the number of entries for each match.
5. From the list click on the item you are interested in viewing.
6. A title list will then display. Click on the title link or “full record” to view the call number and availability of the item.
Use the navigational buttons on the top and bottom of the screen to navigate further. Examples: “Return to List,” “Next,” etc.
7. “Home,” “New Search,” or “Start Over” buttons will bring you back to the original search screen.
You may also select the “Advanced Search” or “Modify Search” button to limit your search further or perform more complicated searches.
