Women’s History Month Writing Contest

Wednesday, March 1 - March 31, 2017

12:00 am

Did you know that in 1917 New York State signed women’s suffrage into law?  This year marks the 100th anniversary of the law. In celebration of Women’s History month students in grades 6-8 are invited to participate in a writing contest on the topic of: Women Got the Vote! So What?  Students can write about the Suffrage movement, changes in women’s lives and issues that still need to be addressed.  Entry forms and contest rules can be picked up in TeenSpace beginning March 1.

All entries must be submitted to TeenSpace by March 31, 2017.

This program is co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) North Shore Branch and the Port Washington Public Library.  AAUW will judge the essays and poems and the top three winners will be awarded cash prizes at an award ceremony at the library on Friday, April 21st.
