TEEN SUMMER PROGRAMS
In-person registration begins on June 20, in Teenspace. Programs are open to Port Washington teens only (entering grades 7-12) as of September 2011. Notification of withdrawal must be given at least five days before the program begins in order for refunds to be made. Program fees are non-transferable. Participants concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk. The Port Washington Public Library will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed, or items one may come in contact with while eating at any of our programs. All teen summer events are co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Crepe Making-Oo la la!
Learn the origin of the crepe (a flat pancake) and create your own using delicious ingredients with instructor Allison Paulo. Workshop fee: $5.

Anime Afternoon View and Do
Enjoy an afternoon of Japanese animated film (Summer Wars) and create your own candy sushi. Free, but preregistration is required.

Beauty Without Cruelty
Instructor Allison Paulo will educate teens about vegan and vegetarian beauty products that are both animal-friendly and environmentally responsible. Participants will then create salt and sugar scrubs using a variety of essential oils. Workshop fee: $5.

X Treme Cakes
Join Kids Edible Creations in designing your own unique cake using splatter paint and edible decorations. Workshop fee: $5.

Build Your Own Video Game
The Game Builders Academy will show you how to make your own game using their Game Maker Software. Workshop fee: $5.

Teens Tie Dye
Athena Menoudakos will demonstrate the many ways to create patterns and each teen will get their own dazzling tie dye shirt. T-shirts will be provided. Workshop fee: $5.

Frame Photos in a Photo Globe
Join artist Shirley Ruby and learn how to transform photographs and beautiful paper into a hanging photo globe. Bring along your favorite photos (4×6.) Workshop fee: $5.

Xbox Kinect Night
Join 2x-treme in a night of Xbox fun and try out the latest sports games for the Kinect game system (no controller needed.) Workshop fee: $5.

Zumba Fitness Party
Certified instructor, Diane Phillips will teach teens the basic steps needed to “Ditch the Workout, Join the Party!” Workshop fee: $5.
Saturday, August 6 at 2:30 p.m.
First create your own animation using light boxes, then view it on the big screen! This workshop will be led by the Long Island Motion Picture Arts Center and Museum. Workshop fee: $5.
