Policy for Use of Images from the Port Washington Public Library Local History Center

Images on our website are available for order as digital files, for one-time use only for the stated purpose.  Any future requests for publication, exhibition, reuse, or changes in use must be submitted to the Local History Center. Payment must be received before orders can be processed.

Digital images will be provided as TIFF or JPEG files, to be determined based on the intended use. All images have been scanned at a minimum of 300 dpi.  Requests for rescans at higher resolutions must be made via phone or email and will incur an additional fee.  Files will be mailed on a disc, or sent electronically if specially arranged.  Files will be emailed when size permits.

The Port Washington Public Library reserves the right to refuse to grant permission to publishers and individuals who have not complied with its policies.

Photographs may be cropped to suit design and layout, but they may not be altered so that they look in any way different from the way they appear in the historical collection.

A credit line must appear with the image or on a credit page. It should read, in legible type: Courtesy of the Port Washington Public Library Local History Center. For web site use, credit should appear either next to or directly below the image.
