“The Necklace” Headlines at the Library Foundation Gala
On Saturday, September 28, at 6:30 pm, the Port Washington Library will host the Port Washington Library Foundation’s Tenth Inspiration Gala. In keeping with this year’s theme, “The Library is the Jewel of the Community,” the evening will include a reading of Guy De Maupassant’s short story “The Necklace,” adapted for the stage by Foundation board member Judy Sloan and performed by seasoned actors Ryan Morey and Sarah Arikian.
A graduate of Rhode Island College with an MFA in theatre and Portland State University with a BA in Music, Ryan Morey is a playwright as well as an actor. He has performed in a number of first-rate productions including One for the Road, The Seagull, Oh, What a Lovely War, the Rocky Horror Show, and Lysistrata at a number of venues across the country.
Sarah Aitken completed her undergraduate work at the Manhattan School of Music and received an MA from NYU in Classical Voice. She has been a featured performer in The Merry Widow, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Three Penny Opera, Ragtime, The Mikado, and many, many others at such venues as the New York Musical Theater Festival, the Show Palace Dinner Theater, Belleayre Music Festival, Jacksonville Lyric Opera, American Family Theatre, Brooklyn Repertory Opera, Broadhollow Theater, the Village Light Opera, and the Remarkable Theatre Brigade.
The Library Foundation thanks Judith and Morton Sloan for their sponsorship of the entertainment for our Tenth Inspiration Gala.
