Friends & Family Weekend 2015
Friday, March 20 - March 22
The Friends of the Library invites library patrons of all ages to Friends & Family Weekend, March 20-22, which will feature events such as a Rockabilly concert, a book swap, and lectures by renowned scholars. All events are in the library’s meeting room.
The weekend kicks off on Friday March 20 with a “Sandwiched In” lecture at 12:10 p.m. featuring noted horticultural author Thomas Christopher speaking on his book “Essential Perennials.” Christopher, a graduate of the New York Botanical Garden School of Professional Horticulture, is a former columnist for Horticulture, House & Garden, and Country Living Gardener. Christopher is a past speaker at the FOL’s Annual Book & Author Luncheon, and his appearance is part of the continuing FOL Meet the Author series.
At 7:30 pm Friday a “Live@PWPL” concert features “Rockabilly Crooners! With the Robert Poe Band.” This entertaining musical event is appropriate for adults and families with children 12 and over.
The events on Saturday March 21 (Paperback Swap) and Sunday March 22 (FOL University) are listed below.
“We invite the community to share Friends & Family Weekend with us, as we showcase the library as a friendly meeting place and cultural hub for patrons of all ages,” said Amy G. Bass, president of the FOL.
