Although best known for his horror roles, he also played in comedies, period dramas and westerns, as seen in tonight’s screening of More Dead Than Alive (1968-101 min.). When reformed gunman Cain (Clint Walker) is released from prison after 18 years, he wants to settle down as a rancher, but first he must accept the offer of showman Ruffalo (Price) to perform as “Killer Cain” in a traveling shooting show. SANDWICHED IN: The Red Fox On Long Island. The sole canine predator on Long Island, the red fox has been drastically reduced in the last 20 years. Recently, they have been adapting to change, rebounding and expanding their range. Frank Valenti, director of the Wild Dog Foundation, will discuss the ecology of foxes, their behavior, their importance to the Long Island ecosystem, how they may lessen Lyme Disease, and how to coexist with them. 12:10 p.m.

FAMILY FILM: Wreck-It Ralph (2012-101 min.). Video game villain Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) sets out to fulfill his dream of being a hero, but his quest wreaks havoc on the arcade where he lives. Director Rich Moore scripted with Phil Johnston and Jennifer Lee; he also voices the characters Sour Bill and Zangief. Other voice artists include Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Mindy Kaling, Ed O’Neill and Dennis Haysbert. We will start the evening with John Kars’ animated short, Paperman (2012-7 min.). RENOWNED VIOLINIST ISADORE HOROWITZ will perform with his daughter, pianist Meryl Cohen, for the first time. Father and daughter will be joined by pianist Philip Malamud for a special intergenerational concert in a recital of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. This concert is funded by the Tepper Intergenerational Fund of the Port Washington Library Foundation. 2 p.m.

MEDICINE MIKE’S WILD WEST SHOW: Growing up in the 1950s, Medicine Mike had the opportunity to see the great western stars on the big screen and on television. In 1964, Mike founded the seminal Port Washington band The Centurians, and went on to record “I’ve Never Been (So High)” in 1969, the hit single that started the underground market in rock and roll recordings. To launch this tribute series to the great cowboy stars, Mike will discuss the life and work of Tom Mix (1880-1940), and screen two of Tom’s best films, Riders of the Desert (1932-78 min.) and Kurt Neumann’s My Pal the King (1932-74 min.) featuring 12-year-old Mickey Rooney as King Charles V. Both movies co-star Tom’s trusty horse, Tony. 7:30 p.m.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIA MONTEZ! Maria Africa Antonia Gracia Vidal de Santo Silas was born on June 6, 1912 in the Dominican Republic. She made her screen debut in 1940 under the more marquee-friendly moniker Maria Montez. Nicknamed the Caribbean Cyclone and the Queen of Technicolor, she played exotic beauties in twenty-seven movies, until her untimely death by drowning in Paris on September 1, 1951. In Robert Siodmak’s The Cobra Woman (1943-68 min.), Ramu (Jon Hall) and his pal Kado (Sabu) race to save sweet Tollea (Montez) from the South Seas tribe, a tribe ruled by Naja, Tollea’s evil twin (Montez again)! that has kidnapped her. 7:30 p.m.

“LINCOLN” (2012-150 min.). As the Civil War rages, President Abraham Lincoln (Oscar winner Daniel Day- Lewis) clashes with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to abolish slavery. Producer/director Steven Spielberg’s historical drama earned twelve Oscar nominations, including Best Supporting Actress (Sally Field), Best Supporting Actor (Tommy Lee Jones) and Best Screenplay (Tony Kushner, adapting Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals), and won for Best Production Design. Janusz Kaminski shot the film, and John Williams composed the score. 7:30 p.m.

VIRTUAL VISITS: The Guggenheim Museum, established in 1939 by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the cylindrical museum building, which is now one of the most important architectural landmarks of the 20th century. The museum features seasonal special exhibitions, but it also owns a remarkable collection of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Modern and contemporary art. Among the highlights of the permanent collection are works by Manet, Gauguin, Pissarro, van Gogh, Picasso, Duchamp, de Kooning and Pollock. PCLI: The Photography Club of Long Island hosts its monthly meeting. Speaker Matt Arnold presents “Before September 11,” a tribute photo show he created in 2002 to commemorate his fellow employees of The NY State Dept. of Transportation – Region 11 offices in the World Trade Center during their work there from 1984 to 1987. This show presents daily life, events, and sites in and around the WTC before the September 11 tragedy. 7:30 p.m.

A young man named Pi (Suraj Sharma) survives a disaster at sea, then must make a connection with the other survivor on his lifeboat: a fearsome Bengal tiger! TIME TRAVEL: Author Frank Borzellieri will consider the scientific reality of time travel, based on the theories of Einstein. Time travel has been a popular topic in novels (H.G. Wells’s The Time Machine), movies (Back to the Future) and television programs (The Time Tunnel). Time travel actually has a basis in science, specifically Einstein’s theories of general and special relativity. Frank Borzellieri will discuss wormholes, black holes and how time travel is achieved through both speed and gravity. Note: you needn’t be a physicist to enjoy this multi-media presentation! 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY SILENTS: Our program begins with Alan Dwan’s Tide of Empire (1929-72 min.), set during the 1840s California gold rush. Having won a ranch in a horse race, Dermot D’Arcy (George Duryea) then tries to win the love of Josephita (Renee Adoree), the proud daughter of the ranch’s former owner. After a brief intermission, Michael Curtiz’s Noah’s Ark (1928-108 min.) compares the Biblical flood with the modern-day upheaval of World War I. The cast includes Dolores Costello, George O’Brien, Noah Beery and Gwynn “Big Boy” Williams; look for Myrna Loy as a showgirl. Both films are silent with musical score and sound effects – the latter even boasts a few Vitaphone sound segments! 1:30 p.m.
