Books for Dessert
Books for Dessert Program History
The library hosts “Books for Dessert,” a book club for adults over 21 with intellectual disabilities, who live or work in and around Port Washington, and who have little or no reading ability. Members meets to enjoy and discuss books – and life – weekly from 7 to 8:30pm.
The program welcomes new members. If you know anyone who may be interested, please call Lee Fertitta at 883-4400, Ext. 135.
Why reinvent the wheel?
If you are an organization or individual interested in replicating this program in your community, let us know. Our book club program is in its 8th year and is very successful. The groups have read books and stories of all kinds in adapted versions – from “The Prince and the Pauper” to Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery.” The library has prepared a program guidebook to help you get started.
Please contact Lee Fertitta by phone: 883-4400, Ext. 135, or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
SUMMER SESSIONS of this book club for adults with developmental disabilities will take place on Thursdays in July at 7 p.m. (beginning July 10 ). Contact Lee Fertitta at 883-4400, Ext. 135 for more information.
