Film Lecture

NEW YORK CLASSIC FILM CLUB: Dr. Dan Pompa selects influential films and invites speakers who have been affected by them, or who have relatives or friends who witnessed the making of these films. Today’s selection is Double Indemnity (1944-108 min.), in which femme fatale Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) lures insurance agent Walter Neff (Fred MacMurray) into a plot to kill her husband. Director Wilder and author Raymond Chandler adapted James M. Cain’s novel. Refreshments will be served. 2 p.m.
