TOPICAL TUESDAY: In Darkness (2011- 145 mins.). Screening and discussion. From acclaimed director Agnieszka Holland, In Darkness is based on the story of Leopold Socha, a sewer worker and petty thief in Lvov, a Nazi occupied city in Poland, who hides a group of Jews for money in the labyrinth of the town’s sewers. This evening Dr. Krystyna Keren-Chiger, the last surviving member of the group, will share her story which was related in her memoir The Girl in the Green Sweater (St. Martins Press, 2012). She will be joined by co-author Dan Paisner, and Dr. Doron Keren. In Darkness received an Academy award nomination for best foreign film. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. 7 p.m.
