Retired music teachers Georges (Jean-Louis Trintignant) and Anne (Emmanuelle Rivera) are an octogenarian couple whose daughter Eva (Isabelle Huppert), also a musician, lives in Britain with her family. Anne suffers a stroke, and the couple’s bond is severely tested. Writer/director Michael Haneke’s drama earned five Academy Award nominations, and a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
