VIRTUAL VISITS: The Robert Lehman Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Robert Lehman, banker and the head of Lehman Brothers, was also an avid art collector. His collection took 60 years to assemble and included paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, textiles, antique frames, majolica and precious jeweled objects. Upon his death in 1969, Mr. Lehman bequeathed 2,600 works from his collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the stipulation that they be exhibited as a private collection.
