Stream music, movies, TV shows, e-books, audiobooks and digital comics
Our hoopla collection is available for your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. To sign up, visit hoopladigital.com or download the hoopla app from your app store, enter your PWPL card number and create an account. To check out an item, just click “borrow.” There are no hold lists. You can borrow video for three days, music for seven days, and e-books, comics and audiobooks for twenty-one days. On mobile devices, audio and video content can be downloaded for offline use. Each cardholder can check out five hoopla items per month; this limit will reset at the beginning of the month.
Stream the latest movies and TV shows
Roku Streaming Sticks give PWPL cardholders access to the library’s VUDU account, with in-demand movies and shows available to stream directly to your TV. You’ll need a broadband wi-fi network and a TV with an HDMI port. Rokus are first-come, first-served; grab one at the Information Desk in the Reading Room. Click here for instructions. Titles are constantly being added; click here to view the current list.
Downloadable e-books and e-audiobooks
Nassau Digital Doorway is our county-wide OverDrive collection, which provides cardholders with access to tens of thousands of e-books and e-audiobooks. Follow the link above for desktop access (use this if you have a dedicated e-reader, such as a Kindle or Nook), or get the free OverDrive app to download titles directly to your mobile device (iPhone or iPad, Android phone or tablet, Kindle Fire, etc.). For more information, visit OverDrive Help or contact the library.
